Development of Starch-Based Bioplastic from Jackfruit Seed

In this article, jackfruit seed starch plasticized with common plasticizers was developed and characterized. At the first step, research papers that dealt fabrication characterization of starch-based bioplastics were synthesized analyzed. Next, seeds selected as a source for because their large availability, low price or even free, high capacity. Afterward, bioplastic procedure proposed. From preliminary tests, sufficiently selected, including water, glycerol, natri bicarbonate, acid citric. Using different combinations these plasticizers, four types then fabricated to study effect well characterize properties corresponding bioplastics. A cutting tool ASTM D412 type standard tensile testing specimen designed fabricated. dog-bone specimens, results showed hardness positively proportional ratio starch. Furthermore, from SEM characterization, specimens fully plasticized. Although has lower mechanical than petroleum-based plastics, its environmental friendliness potential added value promise be material future.
